NEW PET!!!

Rosie, the Rose-haired Tarantula. =P No, I'm not kidding. $25. Dad's spider technically, I chipped in $5 just because, well, to see the look on sister's face is well worth it. =) Poor Daisy doesn't like it, she's a typical girl. XD Here are some random facts about this spider...

1.) The Chilean Rose-hair Tarantula is a moderately large tarantula. They reach adult size in about 3 to 4 years with about a 5" (12.5 cm) leg span.
2.) This species produces large egg sacs, usually containing in excess of 500 babies.
3.) One of the most common reasons for your pet to demonstrate unusual behavior is due to a molting period. As they outgrow their existing skin all tarantulas regularly go through an extensive molt, shedding their entire skin as well as the linings of their mouth, respiratory organs, stomach and sexual organs.
4.) The males will live about five years and females can live as long as twenty years.

Also, would just like to note, that while molting, it has incredible regenerative capabilities. Even capable of growing back a complete leg! After the molting is complete, and the old skin is completely off, the new skin hasn't fully hardened yet. Though Rosie eats crickets, it's important to have them taken out while the molting, for the crickets can attack and taken down the tarantula. Now THAT is a David Vs Goliath tale! lol.
